Have you ever grabbed something that looked real…only to find out it wasn’t? Jude warns believers the same can happen spiritually. Some things look like true faith—but they are almond-milk versions of the real thing. They promise more but deliver less.
In Jude 11–16, we’re shown what counterfeit faith looks like:
-
It imitates Cain—creating a religion our own way.
-
It follows Balaam—doing ministry for money or personal gain.
-
It rebels like Korah—rejecting God’s authority.
These false teachers look good on the surface—but underneath they are hidden reefs, fruitless trees, and clouds without rain. They promise truth but deliver lies. They promise fruit but deliver death.
Today we see modern counterfeits too:
Hebraic Roots • Prosperity Gospel • Progressive Gospel • Christian Nationalism
Each one perverts the grace of God and replaces Jesus with something else.
But Jude doesn’t just warn us—he calls us to contend for the faith!
True faith:
-
Holds to God’s authority
-
Clings to Jesus as the only way, truth, and life
-
Produces love and spiritual fruit
-
Lives out the mission of Jesus—making disciples
Counterfeit faith promises more but delivers less.
True faith promises more—and delivers even more.
Let’s be contenders, not consumers. Rooted in Jesus. Growing in love. Producing fruit. Together we are connecting, growing, and discovering hope in Jesus—and nothing else.
